Today is the last day and the numbers thin out considerably. But there are still plenty of sessions going on. Laurie chaired a session on "Collaboration Across Borders" involving Canada, US and UK. All but one of the panellists participated in the meeting on Near Surface Disposal Facilities just a few months back in Knoxville, TN: Kavita Murphy (CNSC), Rob Seifert (DOE), Jim McCafferty (AECL) and Laura Hermann (PCG). Andrew Orrell represented IAEA today although it was David Bennett who attended our meeting.

The main presentation, from our perspective, was the one on ISD (in situ decommissioning). Laurie was presenting and covered the reasons for ISD, real world examples (e.g. Savannah River, Hanford, Idaho), the outputs from the technical exchange meeting and what the resulting working groups delivered. Laurie explained the next steps including the "ISD Resource Document", "Trilateral Working Groups" (to feed into the resource document) and a "Stakeholder Engagement workshop". Phoenix is a great spot and is changing all the time. For instance, just a few minutes walk from the Conference Center is the Cartel Coffee Lab. Its menu is below. I can't honestly say I noticed red grape and cashew in my Carmen Washed but it was a decent cup of coffee!

As usual, it was a great conference. Thanks go to the organisers, presenters and the exhibitors. It was well worth attending and is an excellent place to meet up with so many people over a short period of time.
